As rains descended from the skies early in the morning of 21 November, 2019, organizers of Light the World campaign prayed earnestly to the Lord that the skies would clear and the sun would break through to help Light the World for Johannesburg’s first campaign of the season in the Southeast Area. The Lord answered the organizer’s prayers just minutes before the event began. The clouds cleared, the sun shone forth and the organizers stood in awe as they realized the Lord had heard and answered their prayers.

The popular Light the World campaign, now in its third year, asks people to take the 25 days leading up to Christmas and turn it into a season of service, lifting and helping others in small and simple ways.
Guests were invited to a program and light lunch, which included remarks by Elders Ephraim Msane, and Glen Holmes, Area Authority Seventies, and special guest speaker Jabulile Buthelezi.
We were reminded that we are at our best when we strive to be a “Light” to our families and loved ones, neighbors and associates – emulating the perfect example, Jesus Christ. We are all ambassadors of Jesus Christ and should show kindness to all. We were challenged to be kind to others, even as Christ was kind, caring and gracious.
Emily and Gianfranco Vizzini helped Light the World by sharing their musical talents. Sister Bonnie Cardon, Young Women General President says, “That is what it means to Light the World one by one – when we each give what we can offer, our little light adds to a brightness of hope.”
