This weekend’s Easter General Conference will be available on 55 local television and radio stations across 17 countries in Southern, Central and Eastern Africa.
This marks a historic occasion with an unprecedented number of viewing options for members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Africa.
As the world battles out the effects of a pandemic, at a time when society craves peace and healing, more people than ever before will be able to enjoy the inspiring and uplifting messages and music available at General Conference.
Elder S. Mark Palmer, Area President in the Africa South Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, says “I love General Conference. I watch every General Conference prayerfully considering this question: ‘What can I do better and how do I need to change or repent?’ Without fail I receive an answer.”
The conference, which is always held annually on the first weekend of April, happens to fall on Easter weekend this year. This, says Elder Palmer, “is a special blessing”.
“Christians all over the world celebrate the Risen Lord and we are able to listen to the testimonies of living prophets and apostles of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ,” he says.
“I cannot think of a better and more welcoming invitation to share with others than: ‘come listen to living apostles and prophets share beautiful testimonies of our Saviour.’”
He continues: “After a year which has been so difficult for so many, people everywhere are yearning for messages of hope. This is what they will hear in General Conference and I know these messages will strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ and bless us through the sweet whisperings of the Spirit.”
Elder Palmer extends an invitation to all members of the Church across the Area to invite friends and loved ones to enjoy Easter General Conference along with them.
“May we all invite those we love to share in this beautiful experience. Like Phillip to his good friend Nathaniel, let us invite our friends on social media and in every other way to ‘come and see’ (John 1:43-64)”.
