Elder and Sister Renlund host a historic Africa Face to Face event

Apostle Answers Questions From Africa's Youth

Elder Dale G. Renlund, and his wife Ruth have delivered a historic Face to Face event in Africa, where youth posed to them a series of questions about the fundamental principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The event broadcast from Accra, Ghana in West Africa was the first ever Face to Face to originate from Africa.

Youth from across Africa tuned in through the web and via social media, while others gathered in their numbers to watch at regional locations in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya and Togo.

In the broadcast, Elder and Sister Renlund, responded to questions that touched on a range of topics, including tithing, chastity, faith, trials, priesthood blessings, the Holy Ghost, missionary work and The Book of Mormon.

Elder Renlund is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, the second-highest governing body in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the First Presidency being the highest).

Apostles are special witnesses of Jesus Christ, called to teach and testify of Him throughout the world. They travel frequently, addressing and encouraging large congregations of members and interested non-members, as well as meeting with local leaders.

Elder and Sister Renlund counselled Africa’s youth to hold dear to the principles that they have been taught in the gospel, but most importantly they also blessed them to know that God loves them.

Face to Face events are an important platform in the Church for teaching and engagement as they provide a seamless channel for reaching large audiences through technology as the Church increasingly becomes global.

The event was delivered in English, French, Portuguese and Malagasy.
