Anxiously Engaged with African Saints

Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of The Twelve Apostles has just concluded a tour of three African countries in the Africa Southeast Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Elder David A. Bednar, of the Quorum of The Twelve Apostles, Elder Gerrit W. Gong  of the 70, and Bishop W. Christopher Waddell, second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric have just concluded a tour of three African countries in the Africa Southeast Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Accompanying them were their wives, Susan Bednar, Susan Gong and Carol Waddell.

They began their tour in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, then on to South Africa before concluding in Nairobi, Kenya.

The general authorities hosted devotionals for missionaries and young single adults, addressed special multi-stake conferences, visited humanitarian sites in both Kinshasa and Nairobi, visited the Kinshasa DR Congo temple site and visited a possible site for the Nairobi, Kenya temple which was announced in 2016.
