Angola Public Affairs Training Brings Great Dividends

February brought excitement to the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Angola.  Elder and Sister Gatten, public affairs missionaries from the Africa Southeast Area office trained with Mission President Denelson Silva, the priesthood leaders and public affairs council February 17-18.

The new 2017 public affairs strategy and implementation were key topics as well as the area Presidencies plan for the members. Those in attendance were encouraged to carry their enthusiasm onward in their work as they carry the church out of obscurity in Angola.

Marta Domingos and Bruno Miranda, newly called social media specialists were trained on the use of their Angola Newsroom and Facebook sites.

Sunday brought a member fireside on using social media to move the Church forward.

Currently the Church has two districts consisting of 13 congregations with approximately 1300 members in Luanda meeting in rented facilities.  They are hoping to begin their first building in the country this year.
